Rooted in a legacy of craftsmanship and dedication, NOMAD1942 draws upon the collective passion, wisdom, and expertise spanning generations.

Adding a new level of luxury to lounge and active wear, NOMAD1942 offers designs that blend the energy of contemporary living with elevated fabric and fit for the perfect combination of style and utility.

Quality and value have been at the root of Amicale Cashmere and NOMAD1942 since first-generation immigrant Gregory Shlomm established the company when he arrived from Europe during World War II. His son Boris further developed the brand that is now led by his grandson Daniel.

NOMAD1942 stands tall on three foundational pillars: the nomadic herders nurturing cashmere goats, the vibrant NoMad New York neighborhood that serves as the hub for the Shlomm family's operations, and the contemporary global nomad who traverses borders with ease. Many styles bear the emblem of the NYC subway token, a homage to the family's rich New York heritage.

Our cashmere is sourced solely from meticulously chosen regions in Mongolia, Tibet, and Nepal, where a unique breed of goats yields the most opulent fibers, which we harvest using proprietary methods.

As one of the first American brands to source the finest fibers directly from Mongolia in the 1960s, we've fostered intimate personal and business relationships with the local herders. The Shlomm family learned how to comb and cultivate the raw material, receiving combs from the herdsmen to symbolize their kinship to cashmere.

Our commerce partnerships have supported generations of herders. We established joint ventures in Ulan Bator, Mongolia, and China, helping to build up business infrastructure and introducing Western management philosophies and practices to the newly emerging free enterprise markets, even developing proprietary machinery to separate goat hair and fibers.

The cashmere business may have changed, but our commitment to quality has not. From 1942 to today, we have never compromised on luxury. NOMAD1942 is a testament to that philosophy.
